The circumference of the knee is 35 cm below the crotch. Rise is measured from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband, including the band.

Straight vs Wide: Wide has more room through the thigh, knee, and hem. In the same waist size, Wide is roughly 3 cm wider through the thigh, 5 cm wider at the knee, and 2 cm wider at the hem. The rise is also slightly higher.

How to measure

Use a pair of jeans or trousers that fit you well and lay them flat to get the most accurate measurements.

  1. Waist: measure across the top of the waistband from edge to edge, then double the number.
  2. Hip: measure across 22 cm down from the top of the waistband, then double.
  3. Thigh: measure 2.5 cm below the crotch seam, then double.
  4. Inseam: measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg, along the inside seam.
  5. Leg opening: measure across the bottom of the hem, edge to edge.
  6. Rise: measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband.

Compare your numbers to the table above. If you fall between two sizes, the cleaner choice is the larger one — denim contracts slightly after the first wash, and a tight waist becomes uncomfortable.
