Designed in the Netherlands, the honest knit, nowhere to hide.

The crewneck is the most honest test of a knit: no collar, no zip, just the fibre, the gauge and the finish. The ETQ SW 04 passes it in 100% extrafine merino, a clean round neck and a dense fine-gauge body, soft enough for direct skin contact with no scratch, and, unusually for pure merino, machine washable. Designed in our Dutch studio and knitted in China at a mill chosen for its specialism in fine-gauge merino, from wool raised in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Across more than 500 verified reviews ETQ holds 4.6 out of 5, and comfort is the word that recurs most after quality. It's the quiet upgrade people repeat-buy across colours, part of a community of more than 250,000 customers.

The piece you build outfits around

Worn alone, layered over a tee, or under a jacket, the crewneck stays neat because merino resists wrinkling and holds its shape. It regulates temperature, wicks moisture and naturally resists odour, so it stays fresh through long days and travels well.

How to wear it

Ideal for layering: thin, smooth and bulk-free, it sits cleanly under an overshirt or jacket and works as a mid-layer or on its own with tailored trousers or denim. Available in a range of tonal shades.

Why merino

Extrafine merino is fine enough to bend against the skin rather than prick it, which is why a merino crew is comfortable on bare skin where a coarse-wool one isn't. It's warm for its weight, so it layers cleanly without bulk, and it's built for the gentle wool cycle at 30°C where most pure merino needs hand-washing.

How to choose

The crewneck is the one knit that does everything. Prefer a collar? See the half-zip or roll neck. Prefer an open layer? The cardigan. All share the same fit.

Frequently asked about the merino crewneck

Is a merino crewneck good for layering?

Ideal. It's thin, smooth and bulk-free, so it sits cleanly under a jacket or overshirt and works as a mid-layer or on its own.

Does it itch?

No. The itch in regular wool comes from coarse fibres above 25 microns. Extrafine merino is fine enough to bend against the skin rather than prick it, so it's comfortable on bare skin.

Is it machine washable?

Yes. A gentle wool cycle at 30°C, inside out, reshape while damp and dry flat. Never tumble dry, as heat felts the fibres. No dry cleaning.

Will it pill?

Fine-gauge extrafine merino resists pilling far better than coarse blends. Wash gently and wash less, merino's odour resistance means you can, and it stays smooth for years.

How does it fit?

A clean, regular fit. Most customers find it true to size; if you prefer a closer or looser line, size accordingly. See the size guide on each product page.

Where is it made?

Designed in our Dutch studio and knitted in China at a mill chosen for its specialism in fine-gauge merino, from wool raised in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

How do shipping, returns and exchanges work?

Free shipping over 150 euro across Europe, the UK, the US and beyond. Returns and exchanges run through a self-service portal within 14 days; an exchange is the quickest fix if the size isn't right.
