Wedding shoes for men: sneakers or loafers?
It's the question we are asked most before a wedding, so here is the honest answer. For most weddings today a clean pair of either works, and the choice comes down to the dress code, the setting and your role on the day. Loafers and moccasins sit at the dressier end; clean leather sneakers are right for relaxed, outdoor and summer weddings. What matters is that the shoe is clean, tonal and unbranded. All our footwear is made in Portugal.
Loafers and moccasins: the dressier choice
If the invitation says formal, or you are wearing a suit, reach for a suede loafer or moccasin. The LS 01 Suede loafer in jet black or desert taupe and the MC 01 Suede moccasin in chocolate read polished without going stiff, and they are soft enough to carry a long day and a longer evening. Black is the safe formal choice; taupe and chocolate suit a daytime or outdoor wedding. For a daytime or summer wedding, the LS 03 and LS 05 suede loafers and the LS 04 nubuck loafer come in sand, desert taupe and chocolate: lighter tones that sit well under linen and unstructured tailoring.
Clean leather sneakers: for relaxed and summer weddings
For a garden, country or city-hall wedding, or any invitation that says smart casual, a minimal white or black leather sneaker is genuinely appropriate. The LT 03 Premium Nappa and LT 01 Essence in white or black are clean enough to wear with tailoring without looking sporty. Keep them spotless and tonal, and skip anything with a loud sole or visible logo.
For autumn and winter weddings
When it turns colder, a suede desert boot like the DB 01 in chocolate bridges smart and seasonal, worn with a wool suit or a tailored trouser.
What to wear with them
Build the outfit around the shoe. A tailored trouser or chino with a fine merino knit or a Cotton Silk knit polo covers most guest dress codes. For a formal invitation, the Essence Suit pairs our JC 01 overshirt and TP 02 trouser as a set in black, ash grey and blueberry: a clean, soft-tailored alternative to a stiff suit that travels without creasing. Keep the palette tonal and let the shoes finish it.
