What to look for in white leather sneakers for men
A good white leather sneaker has fine leather, a low and quiet sole, a removable insole and almost no branding. Choose nappa for a smooth, soft finish or full grain for a sneaker that gains character, and give it a little leather care from day one.
Morning light on a stone step. A pair of white sneakers, laced, waiting by the door. They will go with the navy trousers today, with jeans tomorrow, with a suit on Friday. That is the promise of a white leather sneaker: one pair, almost every day. It only works when the pair is right.
This is not a top ten. It is what we look at when we make white leather sneakers for men, so you can judge any pair, including ours.

What makes a good white leather sneaker?
Four things: fine leather, a low and quiet sole, a comfortable inside and branding you have to look for. White shows everything, so every detail has to earn its place.
The shape comes first. The LT 01 Essence was the first shoe we made: a low tennis line, a clean toe, a logo you have to look for. We have corrected it many times and redesigned it never. That is what you want from a white sneaker: a shape that doesn't date, because there was nothing to date in the first place.
Then the branding. On white leather, a big logo is the first thing anyone sees. Ours carry no big logo, just a small square at the heel, for those who look closer.
Nappa or full grain: which white leather is better?
Neither is better; they age differently. Nappa stays smooth and soft. Full grain marks, settles and gains character.
Nappa is full-grain leather finished for softness, so smooth that light runs across it. Ours is tanned mainly in Alcanena, Portugal, by an LWG Gold tannery. Full grain is the top layer of the hide, left intact: the strongest part. It is the leather of the LT 01 Essence White, and it gets better the longer you wear it. More on every leather on our leathers page.

Before a single cut, each hide is checked on finish, colour, surface and thickness. Leather that falls short goes back. For a white sneaker, that check is everything.
Which white sneaker suits you?
It depends on the line you want under your trouser. Here are our four white pairs, side by side.
| Model | Leather | Sole | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| LT 01 Essence White | Full grain | Court | The original: a low tennis line, gains character |
| LT 01 Court Lite Premium Nappa White | Nappa | Court | The quietest: fewer panels, less stitching |
| LT 03 Premium Nappa White | Nappa | City | Structured panels, more presence |
| LT 01 Platform Premium Nappa White | Nappa | Platform, EVA outsole | More height, a longer line through the leg |
Want the silhouette to sit up? Our platform sneakers put the LT 01 upper on a thicker sole: more presence at the hem, a longer line through the leg, and an EVA outsole that keeps a sole this thick from feeling heavy. Prefer a darker base? The same thinking runs through our black leather sneakers.

What should be inside a good sneaker?
A sole that gives, an insole that shapes to you, and a lining that breathes. Most of our sneakers stand on one of three soles from our own moulds, in a rubber blend we specified ourselves. The upper is stitched to a flexible base before the sole goes on, so the shoe bends where your foot bends. Inside sits a removable memory foam insole, and on the Essence and Court Lite an onSteam® lining that moves moisture away.
Look inside before you look at the price. The lining softens with wear, and socks help it last, which is why we tell you to wear them, even no-shows. The insole lifts out, so you can fit your own orthotics, or a fresh pair after heavy wear.
A shape that doesn't date, because there was nothing to date in the first place.
A pair of our sneakers passes through at least 25 people and holds 20 to 40 components. We wrote down every stage in what "made in Portugal" means for a sneaker.

Will white leather stay white?
With a little care, yes. Give a new pair a light coat of leather care when it arrives, clean it with a damp brush and sneaker cleaner, and condition it every four to six months. Before shipping, every pair is checked for colour consistency, so left and right always match. The full routine is in how to keep white leather sneakers white.
Two honest things about white leather. It is a natural material, so its colour slowly deepens with sun and wear, much like skin. And every leather shoe creases where the foot bends; that is part of how it wears in. Shoe trees and a little leather cream keep those creases soft.
And then wear them. Under a trouser to the office, with denim at the weekend, even with a suit. See how to wear smart sneakers and sneakers with a suit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between nappa and full grain?
Nappa is full-grain leather finished for softness: smooth and supple. Full grain is the top layer of the hide left intact; it marks, settles and gains character.
Which ETQ sneaker has the least stitching?
The LT 01 Court Lite: fewer panels and less stitching, on the Court sole.
Is a platform sneaker heavy?
Our platform models have an EVA outsole, which keeps a thick sole from feeling heavy.
Do left and right always match in colour?
Yes. Before shipping, every pair is checked for colour consistency, so left and right match. Shades can differ slightly between batches.
