What are people saying about our classic polo shirts.
Men's classic polo shirts in Cotton Silk knit
The polo most men reach for: a clean collar, a neat button placket and a refined knit that looks put together with almost no effort. Our PO 04 Tailored is knitted from Cotton Silk, breathable cotton with the soft hand and subtle sheen of silk, so it stays cool in warm weather and reads sharp rather than sporty. Designed in our Amsterdam studio and made in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, Turkey or China, chosen per piece for the best make.
What makes the classic polo
This is the traditional short-sleeve polo, done with restraint. A structured collar that holds its shape, a short buttoned placket at the throat, clean shoulder seams and reinforced hems so it keeps its line wash after wash. No oversized branding, no contrast trims, just the knit and the cut. Worn buttoned it leans a touch smarter; worn open it relaxes. Either way it is the easiest way to look considered without reaching for a shirt.
Cotton Silk, the fabric that does the work
The fabric is the reason this polo dresses up without trying. Cotton Silk pairs the breathability and easy care of cotton with the soft, dry hand and faint sheen of silk. It is knitted, not woven, so it moves with you and holds a clean drape rather than clinging, and it stays cool and dry against the skin through a long, warm day. The subtle lustre is what lifts it above an ordinary jersey polo: present in good light, never shiny. It is the same Cotton Silk we use across our Tailored polos; see the full Cotton Silk knit range.
The PO 04 Tailored
One silhouette, refined and offered in a full range of tonal shades, the muted, wearable colours ETQ is built on, and available in multi-packs. A slightly tailored fit that sits close without pulling, finished with reinforced hems that keep the shape over time.
How to wear it
- Office and dinner: with tailored trousers or chinos and a suede loafer.
- Warm weather: with tailored shorts and a clean sneaker, worn open at the neck.
- Layered: neatly under an overshirt or unstructured jacket.
Keep the palette tonal and let the polo carry the outfit. For built-out combinations, see our business casual edit.
Buttoned, buttonless or long-sleeve?
- Classic (PO 04): the traditional buttoned placket, the most familiar and slightly smarter look.
- Buttonless (PO 05): no placket, for a cleaner, more modern open neckline.
- Long-sleeve: the same knit with long sleeves for cooler days and layering.
All share the same fabric and fit, so once you know your size you can move between them.
Fit and sizing
The PO 04 is a clean, slightly tailored fit, cut close without restricting movement. Most customers find it true to size, in line with our knitwear; if you prefer a looser drape, size up. Each product page carries a size guide and verified-buyer fit feedback.
Caring for Cotton Silk
Low-effort to live with. Machine wash gently at a maximum of 30 degrees, inside out and with like colours, then reshape and dry flat; skip the tumble dryer and keep the iron low. To protect the hand-feel, wear more and wash less. Exact care is on each product page.
Why it earns a place
Ask our customers what made them buy and the answer is consistent: quality, design and the restraint that keeps a piece wearable for years. The classic polo is exactly that, one refined top that covers the office, dinner and the weekend. It is the kind of piece returning customers come back for, and a large share of every month's orders comes from repeat buyers. We have shipped to more than 200,000 customers across Europe and North America, with a 4.4 out of 5 average across thousands of verified reviews. Same but better, every iteration.
Frequently asked about classic polos
What fabric is the classic polo?
Cotton Silk knit: breathable cotton with the soft hand and subtle sheen of silk, knitted for a clean drape that stays cool and dry.
How does the PO 04 fit?
A clean, slightly tailored fit. Most customers find it true to size; if you prefer a looser drape, size up, and check the fit note on each product page.
What is the difference between the PO 04 and the PO 05?
The PO 04 is the classic polo with a buttoned placket; the PO 05 Buttonless removes the placket for a clean, open collar. Same Cotton Silk knit, same fit.
Can I wear a polo to the office?
Yes. Buttoned, with tailored trousers and a loafer, the classic polo is a clean business-casual top.
Does it come in packs?
Yes. The PO 04 comes in a full tonal range and in multi-packs.
How do I care for it?
Machine wash gently at 30 degrees, avoid tumble drying, and wash less to preserve the texture.
Does the Cotton Silk polo shrink or pill?
Washed as directed — gently at 30°C, inside out, and air-dried flat — it keeps its shape, and the reinforced hems resist stretching. The tumble dryer is the main cause of shrinkage, so skip it. The knit is built to stay smooth; turning it inside out in the wash further reduces any pilling.
Where is it made?
Designed in our Amsterdam studio and made in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, Turkey or China, chosen per piece.

How to measure
Let’s find your perfect fit. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall and put your feet (with socks) on it, heels against the wall. Make sure you lean on your feet with full power when measuring. Now you simply draw a line at the end of the biggest foot. Measure the distance with a ruler and find the size that matches it: see size table. Are you in between sizes? In that case, we suggest taking the bigger size.

What sets mercerized cotton apart is its ability to hold dye exceptionally well, resulting in vibrant, rich colors that resist fading over time.
