Full Grain Leather

Constantly improved premium leather.

Full grain is the top layer of the hide, left intact. Nothing is sanded or buffed away, so the natural grain and the strongest fibres of the leather stay exactly where they are. That makes it the most durable leather finish there is. Our full grain is tanned by Curtumes Iberia in Alcanena, Portugal, an LWG Gold certified tannery, and every hide is inspected on finish, colour, surface and thickness before cutting. Small variations in grain and colour are natural, and proof the surface is untouched. It starts firm, softens with wear, and builds a patina that deepens over the years.

Mediterranean Suede

Ultra soft suede.

Suede is cut from the underside of the hide and sanded to a fine, velvety nap. Ours is true to its name: tanned on the Mediterranean by Gruppo Mastrotto in Arzignano, Italy, an LWG Gold certified tannery, and Sanchez Agullo in Alicante, Spain, LWG approved. Every hide is inspected on finish, colour, surface and thickness before cutting. Quality shows in the nap: short, dense and even, with deep, uniform colour that gains character over time.

Foot length is the actual measured foot. The MC 01, DS 01, and CB 01 are built on a slightly longer last, so the shoe includes additional internal space for comfort, shape, and elegance.

  2. Mark the tip of your longest toe.
  3. Measure from the wall to the mark and find that length in the table.

A Chelsea boot has nowhere to hide. No laces, no hardware, so the silhouette carries it or it does not. The last is slim, and the welted commando sole underneath stops it looking delicate. Full-grain leather from an LWG Gold tannery in Portugal: it scuffs and marks, then settles into something better than it started.

Good to know

  • We ship on working days. On New Year’s Day, King’s Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, we take a day off.

Insured in transit

Your order is insured until it reaches you. Sometimes we ask for a signature on delivery; from then on, the parcel is your responsibility. If someone else signs for you, their signature counts as proof of delivery.

Ordering from outside the EU?

Outside the EU (except the UK), you don’t pay Dutch VAT: the 21% comes off your order automatically at checkout, as soon as you enter your address or switch country or currency. 5% import duty and 5% VAT generally apply, plus a FedEx handling fee, on or after delivery.

Good to know

  • Send your items back clean and unworn, with their tags and packaging. That way we can process them quickly.
  • Underwear can only be returned with the seal intact.
  • Returning more than one item? We charge a €2 handling fee for each extra item.
  • You can also send your return with your own carrier. Even so, we recommend our return portal: if your parcel goes missing on the way, we’re responsible, and we process your return faster. We can’t reimburse the cost of your own carrier.
  • Price difference because of a promotion? We make up for it with a voucher.
  • If an item doesn’t meet these conditions, we may refund it in part or not at all.

    The ETQ ankle boots arrived in poor condition. The damage is clearly due to a quality defect and not to use. This is absolutely disappointing for a product in this price range. Even more annoying was the way customer service dealt with the problem: Instead of acknowledging the obvious defect, I was blamed. Customer service was uncooperative and not very solution-oriented.

Handmade in Portugal.

Cut from premium nappa, full grain and suede, then built on the last by makers who do little else. It takes years to master a shoe. We’re still finding ways to make it better.

Questions about the CB 01 Rugged All

How does the CB 01 fit?

A close fit around the foot and ankle. Take your usual size, or go one size up if you are between sizes or like thicker socks. The boot softens and shapes to your foot as you wear it.

Do you have half sizes?

No, we only make whole sizes. Between two sizes? Take the bigger one: you can fill a little space, but you can't add length. A slightly thicker insole or thicker socks take up the extra room, and the insole lifts out, so swapping it takes seconds.

Will full-grain leather give a little?

Yes, a little. It softens and shapes to your foot as you wear it. It marks along the way, then settles and holds its shape for years: that is how it gains character. The length stays the same, so choose your size on length.

How do I look after full-grain leather?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wearing and let it dry at room temperature, away from the heater. Use a neutral leather cream every few months to keep it supple. Skip household cleaners and the washing machine. Full-grain leather is a natural material, so small marks and colour differences between batches are normal.

How is the CB 01 built?

It is welted: the sole is stitched to the upper along a strip of leather instead of glued to it. That is the slower way to build a boot, and it holds together far longer than a bonded sole. The commando sole underneath keeps the slim shape from looking delicate.

Can I take the insole out?

Yes. The insole lifts out, so you can fit a fresh one or your own orthotics.

How do returns work if it doesn't fit?

Open our return portal and choose your new size: it ships as soon as your return is on its way, and you don't need to place a new order. Prefer a different colour or model? Choose store credit and order again, or choose a refund. Costs per country are on our returns page.

Is there a warranty on my ETQ product?

Yes, manufacturing defects are covered by the statutory warranty. Something not right? Send us a photo and your order number and we’ll find a solution together. Normal wear and damage from use are not covered.

Do you have a store?

We don't have our own store: ETQ is online only. You order here and try everything on at home. If it isn't right, you can exchange or return it through our return portal.
