Description

A mid-top sits at the ankle, which is the part of a shoe that changes an outfit most. The MT 02 takes its proportion from the golden era of basketball trainers: clean panels, a firm collar, a shape that stays upright. Full-grain leather from an LWG Gold tannery in Portugal, on our Rugged sole. It marks first, then settles.

Size & fit

ETQ low tops have a clean, close fit with a standard width and a slightly slimmer toe. Most people take their usual size, and the shape suits most feet, including slightly wider ones.

Material info

Full grain is the top layer of the hide, left intact. Nothing is sanded or buffed away, so the natural grain and the strongest fibres of the leather stay exactly where they are. That makes it the most durable leather finish there is. Our full grain is tanned by Curtumes Iberia in Alcanena, Portugal, an LWG Gold certified tannery, and every hide is inspected on finish, colour, surface and thickness before cutting. Small variations in grain and colour are natural, and proof the surface is untouched. It starts firm, softens with wear, and builds a patina that deepens over the years.

Your order is insured until it reaches you. Sometimes we ask for a signature on delivery; from then on, the parcel is your responsibility. If someone else signs for you, their signature counts as proof of delivery.

Outside the EU (except the UK), you don’t pay Dutch VAT: the 21% comes off your order automatically at checkout, as soon as you enter your address or switch country or currency. 5% import duty and 5% VAT generally apply, plus a FedEx handling fee, on or after delivery.

Good to know

  • Send your items back clean and unworn, with their tags and packaging. That way we can process them quickly.
  • Underwear can only be returned with the seal intact.
  • Returning more than one item? We charge a €2 handling fee for each extra item.
  • You can also send your return with your own carrier. Even so, we recommend our return portal: if your parcel goes missing on the way, we’re responsible, and we process your return faster. We can’t reimburse the cost of your own carrier.
  • Price difference because of a promotion? We make up for it with a voucher.
  • If an item doesn’t meet these conditions, we may refund it in part or not at all.

Questions about the MT 02 Rugged

How does the MT 02 fit?

True to size, on the closer side: take your usual size, and between sizes take the bigger one. The firm collar sits at the ankle and keeps the shape upright through wear.

Do you have half sizes?

No, we only make whole sizes. Between two sizes? Take the bigger one: you can fill a little space, but you can't add length. A slightly thicker insole or thicker socks take up the extra room, and the insole lifts out, so swapping it takes seconds.

Will full-grain leather give a little?

Yes, a little. It softens and shapes to your foot as you wear it. It marks along the way, then settles and holds its shape for years: that is how it gains character. The length stays the same, so choose your size on length.

How do I look after full-grain leather?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wearing and let it dry at room temperature, away from the heater. Use a neutral leather cream every few months to keep it supple. Skip household cleaners and the washing machine. Full-grain leather is a natural material, so small marks and colour differences between batches are normal.

What is the sole on the MT 02 Rugged?

Our Rugged sole: the Court sole with a rugged layer underneath, with a Strobel construction, so the shoe bends where your foot bends. Above it, clean panels and a firm collar at the ankle, in a proportion taken from classic basketball shoes.

Can I take the insole out?

Yes. The insole lifts out, so you can fit a fresh one or your own orthotics.

How do returns work if it doesn't fit?

Open our return portal and choose your new size: it ships as soon as your return is on its way, and you don't need to place a new order. Prefer a different colour or model? Choose store credit and order again, or choose a refund. Costs per country are on our returns page.

Is there a warranty on my ETQ product?

Yes, manufacturing defects are covered by the statutory warranty. Something not right? Send us a photo and your order number and we’ll find a solution together. Normal wear and damage from use are not covered.

We don't have our own store: ETQ is online only. You order here and try everything on at home. If it isn't right, you can exchange or return it through our return portal.
