What are people saying about our polo shirts.
Men's polo shirts
The polo is ETQ's quiet way to look put together without trying: the structure of a shirt, the ease of a tee, in one clean collared top. Our polos come in three silhouettes, the classic buttoned PO 04, the placket-free PO 05 Buttonless and the PO 04 Longsleeve, all built on the same considered cut and the muted, tonal colours the brand is known for. Designed in our Amsterdam studio and made in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, Turkey or China, chosen per piece for the best make.
The three silhouettes
- Classic (PO 04): the traditional short-sleeve polo with a buttoned placket. The familiar, slightly smarter look.
- Buttonless (PO 05): the placket removed for a clean, open neckline. The most modern of the three.
- Long-sleeve (PO 04): the same polo with full-length sleeves, for cooler days and layering.
All three share the same fit, so once you know your size you can move freely between them, and several come in multi-packs.
The fabric
Today every ETQ polo is knitted from Cotton Silk, breathable cotton with the soft, dry hand and subtle sheen of silk. It is knitted rather than woven, so it holds a clean drape instead of clinging, stays cool against the skin, and carries a faint lustre that lifts it above an ordinary jersey polo. See the full Cotton Silk knit range.
Fabric is where we are deliberate rather than broad. We choose a cloth for how it actually wears over years, not for novelty, and we refine the line rather than let it sprawl. As the polo range grows, any new fabric has to clear the same bar: soft enough to wear next to the skin, clean enough to dress up a trouser, and built to last. Same but better. That is our code.
How to wear a polo
A knit polo is the easiest smart-casual top there is. Wear it with an Essence chino or trouser and a suede loafer for the office or dinner, with tailored shorts and a clean sneaker in summer, or under an overshirt as a layer. Keep the palette tonal and let the polo do the talking. For built-out looks, see our business casual edit.
Which polo should you choose?
- Mostly wear it open? The buttonless PO 05 gives the cleanest neckline.
- Want the familiar, slightly smarter look? The classic buttoned PO 04.
- Need cooler-day coverage or a layer? The long-sleeve PO 04.
Fit and sizing
Our polos are a clean, slightly tailored fit, cut close without restricting movement. Most customers find them true to size, in line with our knitwear; if you prefer a looser drape, size up. Each product page carries a size guide and verified-buyer fit feedback.
Caring for the knit
Low-effort to live with. Machine wash gently at a maximum of 30 degrees, inside out and with like colours, then reshape and dry flat; skip the tumble dryer and keep the iron low. To protect the hand-feel, wear more and wash less. Exact care is on each product page.
Why men come back
Ask our customers what made them buy and the answer is consistent: quality, design and the restraint that keeps a piece wearable for years. The polo is one of the most repeat-bought things we make, one clean top that moves from desk to dinner, and a large share of every month's orders comes from people buying their second, third or seventh ETQ piece. We have shipped to more than 200,000 customers across Europe and North America, with a 4.4 out of 5 average across thousands of independently verified reviews.

How to measure
Let’s find your perfect fit. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall and put your feet (with socks) on it, heels against the wall. Make sure you lean on your feet with full power when measuring. Now you simply draw a line at the end of the biggest foot. Measure the distance with a ruler and find the size that matches it: see size table. Are you in between sizes? In that case, we suggest taking the bigger size.

Mercerized Cotton
Mercerized cotton is the epitome of luxury in cotton fabrics. Through a special finishing process, the cotton fibers are treated to enhance their natural properties, resulting in a fabric that is smoother, stronger, and more lustrous. The mercerization process not only strengthens the fibers but also gives the cotton a subtle sheen that adds an elevated, polished look to the material.
What sets mercerized cotton apart is its ability to hold dye exceptionally well, resulting in vibrant, rich colors that resist fading over time. It’s smoother to the touch than regular cotton, offering a silk-like feel without sacrificing breathability. This fabric is durable, resists shrinking, and maintains its shape, making it ideal for garments that combine sophistication with everyday wearability.
