What are people saying about our menswear.
ETQ Menswear. Strong silhouettes. Nuanced colors. A thin layer of logos.
ETQ Amsterdam is a Dutch design studio that has been refining one wardrobe since 2010. We don't follow seasons or chase trends. We engineer essentials — T-shirts, trousers, polos, sweaters, hoodies, jackets, shorts, socks and boxer shorts — and we treat each one like a product, not a garment. Same but better, every collection. That's our code.
What ETQ menswear is — and what it isn't
If you've worn a pair of ETQ sneakers or loafers, you already know the rhythm. Premium leathers. Patient construction. No oversized branding. Our clothing follows the same code: clean lines, considered proportions, and fabrics chosen for how they feel on the third wash, not the first. We don't drop new silhouettes every six weeks. We refine the ones that already work — that's why our flagship TS 01 T-shirt and TP 01 trouser now exist in their next iteration. Better fit. Better recovery. Same silhouette.
It's a discipline. Most men don't need a wardrobe of 400 garments. They need fifteen that work together, hold their shape, and quietly outlast the rest. That's the wardrobe ETQ builds.
The materials, in plain language
The fabric decision is where most brands cut corners and where we don't. A short, honest map of what you're wearing when you wear ETQ:
- Heavyweight T-shirts (300+ gsm): Italian fleece cotton with a touch of stretch. Built to hold its shape, wash after wash. The structure stays. The drape doesn't sag.
- Lightweight T-shirts and longsleeves: A finer cotton blend with a clean hand-feel — engineered for warmer months and layering under a jacket or overshirt.
- Cotton Silk knit: Used across our Tailored Polos and crew tees. Cotton meets a silk hand. Soft, refined, dry. It dresses up a trouser without trying.
- Merino Wool: Fine-gauge, breathable, temperature-regulating. The reason a single ETQ knit covers spring evenings and winter office days.
- Premium Performance Fabric: Our Essence trousers, suits and overshirts. A technical weave with the drape of wool and the recovery of stretch. Travels well. Wrinkles rarely.
- Heavyweight Japanese denim: Selvedge construction, classic indigo, built to break in — not break down.
- Built in Portugal, Turkey and China: Cut, sewn and finished in small family-owned ateliers that have stitched for ETQ for years. We visit them. We know the floors. We select countries and factories based on their specialism.
What buyers tell us — verbatim
We've shipped to more than 200,000 customers across Europe and North America, with a 4.4/5 average rating across thousands of independently verified reviews. The patterns in what people write back to us are remarkably consistent:
"Finally a heavyweight t-shirt that holds its shape over time. Very good quality and looks good when worn." — Marc, Barcelona
"The pants are mega cozy. The fabric is super soft and it stretches good so it makes it easy to wear for different occasions." — Jonas, Solingen
"I'm always careful buying online when an item is expensive. On this occasion the style and quality is better than a lot of luxury brands." — Carlos, Lisbon
"Outstanding hoodie. Great fit, outstanding fabric quality. An essential element in every man's wardrobe." — Tiago, Portugal
"Excellent. I took a chance on this brand as I'd never bought from them before. I'm really happy with quality, speed of delivery and exchanges. They're my new favourite label." — James, on the SH 04 Jacquard shirt
The reviews we trust most aren't the five-star ones. They're the long ones — the customers who explain exactly why a fabric or fit earned their loyalty. Read them all on our product pages.
Why men buy a second piece (and a third)
When we ask new buyers in our post-purchase survey what convinced them, the answer is almost always the same three words: quality, design, restraint. When we ask returning buyers — and roughly half of every month's orders come from them — the answer shifts. They mention the first pair of shoes. The trousers that survived a year of office days. The T-shirt that didn't pill. They mention trust, earned slowly.
That's the wardrobe we build for. Not for the first impulse. For the second, third, and seventh purchase.
How to navigate the ETQ menswear collection
If you're new to ETQ, start with the categories most worn by our returning customers:
- T-shirts — heavyweight, lightweight, oversized and regular fit. The 300 gsm TS 01 is where most people start.
- Trousers — straight, slim, tailored. The Essence line sits between a chino and a dress trouser, with the comfort of jersey.
- Polo shirts — buttoned, buttonless, knit. Cotton silk for spring and summer.
- Sweaters and knitwear — fine-gauge merino, half-zip and crew silhouettes for layered seasons.
- Hoodies and shorts — relaxed, refined, never sporty.
- Jackets and overshirts — clean overshirts in Premium Performance Fabric, mid-season layers, structured suit jackets.
- Sets and multi-packs — the easiest way to refresh a drawer of essentials.
- Socks and boxer shorts — the base layers people forget matter, until they wear ours.
And of course: the shoes that started it all. Most of our menswear customers met us through a pair of sneakers or loafers first.
The ETQ code, applied
What you don't see is also part of the design. No flashy logos. No seasonal noise. No 17 versions of the same shirt with minor variations. We're disciplined about what we add to the collection — and what we leave out. Every piece earns its place by passing the same test: would we buy it ourselves, would we keep it for years, would we be proud to make the next version even better?
If that's the wardrobe you've been quietly looking for, you've found us. Welcome to ETQ.
Frequently asked about ETQ menswear
Where is ETQ menswear made?
Our garments are cut, sewn and finished in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, Turkey and China We work with the same partners across multiple seasons — long enough to know their floors, their machines and their families. Design and pattern-making happen in our Amsterdam studio.
What kind of brand is ETQ Amsterdam?
ETQ is a Dutch menswear and footwear brand founded in 2010, built around minimalist design, premium materials, and a discipline we call "same but better." We make wardrobe essentials — shoes, T-shirts, trousers, polos, sweaters, hoodies, shirts, jackets, shorts and accessories — for men who prefer restraint over branding.
How does ETQ sizing run?
Most ETQ menswear is true to size for European men's standards. Across our verified reviews, the majority of buyers report "true to size" fit. Each product page carries a detailed size guide and verified-buyer fit feedback. Loafers and slip-on shoes tend to fit slightly large — many customers size down half a size.
Is ETQ a sustainable menswear brand?
We build slow. Small ateliers, durable materials, and a deliberately narrow collection that we refine rather than expand. The most sustainable garment is one you wear for ten years, so we engineer for longevity — heavyweight cottons that hold their shape, leathers and suedes that patina rather than peel.
What's the best ETQ piece to start with?
Most new menswear customers begin with either the TS 01 Heavyweight T-shirt or the TP 01 Essence trouser. Both have been refined across multiple iterations and remain our most-repeat-purchased pieces. If you came in through our shoes first, the tailored polo or Essence overshirt is the natural next step.
Does ETQ ship internationally? What's the return policy?
Yes. We ship across Europe, the UK, the US and beyond. Shipping is free on orders over €150. Returns and exchanges are handled through our self-service portal and processed quickly — a point our reviewers consistently rate highly.
How does ETQ compare to other Dutch or European menswear brands?
We sit between sneaker-led brands and tailored menswear houses. Compared to mass-minimal brands, our materials are heavier and our construction more considered. Compared to formal tailoring, our cuts are easier and more wearable for daily life. Compared to most premium menswear, we charge less because we sell direct, with no retail margin in between. How to measure
Let’s find your perfect fit. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall and put your feet (with socks) on it, heels against the wall. Make sure you lean on your feet with full power when measuring. Now you simply draw a line at the end of the biggest foot. Measure the distance with a ruler and find the size that matches it: see size table. Are you in between sizes? In that case, we suggest taking the bigger size.
