What are people saying about our menswear.
ETQ Menswear. Strong silhouettes. Nuanced colours. Barely a logo in sight.
ETQ Amsterdam is a Dutch design studio that has refined one wardrobe since 2010. We don't follow seasons or chase trends. We engineer essentials, T-shirts, trousers, chinos, polos, sweaters, hoodies, shirts, jackets, jeans, shorts, socks and boxer shorts, and we treat each one like a product, not a garment. Same but better, every collection. That is our code.
When we ask customers why they bought, the same answers come back: the clean design and the quality. Across more than 500 verified reviews ETQ holds 4.6 out of 5, and after quality the word that recurs most is comfort. Many buy one piece and come back for the next, part of a community of more than 250,000 customers across Europe and North America.
What ETQ menswear is, and what it isn't
If you have worn a pair of ETQ sneakers or loafers, you already know the rhythm: considered materials, patient construction, no oversized branding. Our clothing follows the same code. Clean lines, considered proportions, and fabrics chosen for how they feel on the third wash, not the first. We do not drop new silhouettes every six weeks; we refine the ones that already work, which is why the flagship TS 01 Essence T-shirt and the Essence trouser now exist in their next iteration. Better fit, better recovery, same silhouette.
It is a discipline. Most men do not need a wardrobe of 400 garments. They need fifteen that work together, hold their shape and quietly outlast the rest. That is the wardrobe ETQ builds.
The materials, in plain language
The fabric decision is where most brands cut corners and where we do not. A short, honest map of what you are wearing when you wear ETQ:
- Heavyweight T-shirts: a heavier-weight cotton with a touch of stretch, built to hold its shape wash after wash. The structure stays; the drape does not sag. The point our reviewers raise most.
- Lightweight T-shirts and longsleeves: a finer cotton with a clean hand-feel, made for warmer months and for layering under a shirt or overshirt.
- Cotton Silk Knit: used across our Tailored polos and crew tees. Cotton with a silk hand, soft, refined and dry. It dresses up a trouser without trying.
- Merino wool: fine-gauge, breathable and temperature-regulating, which is why a single ETQ knit covers spring evenings and winter office days.
- Traveller Weave: our Essence trousers, suits and overshirts. A technical weave with the drape of wool and the recovery of stretch. It travels well and wrinkles rarely.
- Japanese denim: the JD 01 is woven in Japan, in Tokyo, then constructed in China. It softens, shapes and fades with wear, finished with a leather ETQ patch as a quiet signature.
- Made in Portugal, Turkey and China: cut, sewn and finished in small family-owned ateliers we have worked with for years. We choose the country and the factory per piece, on the specialism that makes that particular item best. Design and pattern-making happen in our Dutch studio.
How to build the wardrobe
Everything here is made to mix, and most of it is made to mix with our shoes.
- The foundation: the TS 01 Essence heavyweight tee with an Essence chino or trouser, finished with white sneakers or a suede loafer.
- For the office: an Essence trouser with a tailored polo or fine knit, over loafers or clean leather sneakers.
- For the weekend: a tee with denim and sneakers, layered with a sweater or hoodie as it cools.
- For layering: a shirt or overshirt under a jacket, with the base layers, socks and boxers, that quietly hold it together.
New to the brand? The easiest way to refresh a drawer is through our sets and multi-packs, or build from the business casual edit. And of course, the shoes that started it all, most of our menswear customers met us through a pair of sneakers or loafers first.
Why men buy a second piece, and a third
When we ask new buyers what convinced them, the answer is almost always the same: quality, design and restraint. When we ask returning buyers, and a large share of every month's orders comes from them, the answer shifts. They mention the first pair of shoes, the trousers that survived a year of office days, the T-shirt that did not pill. They mention trust, earned slowly. That is the wardrobe we build for: not the first impulse, but the second, third and seventh purchase.
The ETQ code, applied
What you do not see is also part of the design. No flashy logos, no seasonal noise, no seventeen versions of the same shirt. We are disciplined about what we add and what we leave out. Every piece earns its place by passing the same test: would we wear it ourselves, would we keep it for years, would we be proud to make the next version better. If that is the wardrobe you have been quietly looking for, you have found us.
Frequently asked about ETQ menswear
Where is ETQ menswear made?
Our garments are cut, sewn and finished in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, Turkey and China. We choose the country and factory per piece, on the specialism that makes that item best, and work with the same partners across many seasons. Some fabrics are sourced elsewhere for the same reason, like the Japanese denim in our jeans. Design and pattern-making happen in our Dutch studio, and our footwear is made in Portugal.
How does ETQ sizing run?
Most ETQ menswear is true to size for European men's standards, and the majority of buyers in our verified reviews confirm it. The heavyweight tees run true; the oversized cut is intentionally roomier. Each product page carries a size guide and verified-buyer fit feedback. Our shoes also run true to size, though slip-ons lean slightly snug, so between sizes take the larger one.
How do I care for ETQ clothing?
The short version that keeps a garment at its best: machine wash cool, at 30°C, inside out and with like colours, then reshape and dry flat rather than tumbling hot. Merino goes on the gentle wool cycle; heavyweight cottons keep their structure when dried flat. Skip the hot iron. Exact care is on every product page, and washing less keeps colour and shape for longer.
What kind of brand is ETQ Amsterdam?
A Dutch menswear and footwear brand founded in 2010, built around minimalist design, considered materials and a discipline we call same but better. We make wardrobe essentials for men who prefer restraint over branding.
What is the best ETQ piece to start with?
Most new customers begin with the TS 01 Essence heavyweight T-shirt or the Essence trouser, both refined across several iterations and our most repeat-purchased pieces. If you came in through our shoes, the tailored polo or an Essence overshirt is the natural next step.
Is ETQ a sustainable menswear brand?
We build slow: small ateliers, durable materials and a deliberately narrow collection we refine rather than expand. The most sustainable garment is one you wear for years, so we engineer for longevity, heavyweight cottons that hold their shape and leathers that patina rather than peel.
How does ETQ compare to other European menswear brands?
We sit between sneaker-led brands and tailored menswear houses. Against mass-minimal labels our materials are heavier and our construction more considered; against formal tailoring our cuts are easier for daily life; against comparable menswear houses we charge less because we sell direct, with no retail margin in between.
How do shipping, returns and exchanges work?
We ship across Europe, the UK, the US and beyond, with free shipping on orders over 150 euro and a delivery speed our reviewers rate highly. Returns and exchanges run through a self-service portal within 14 days of receipt; if the fit isn't right, an exchange for another size or colour is the quickest fix.

How to measure
Let’s find your perfect fit. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall and put your feet (with socks) on it, heels against the wall. Make sure you lean on your feet with full power when measuring. Now you simply draw a line at the end of the biggest foot. Measure the distance with a ruler and find the size that matches it: see size table. Are you in between sizes? In that case, we suggest taking the bigger size.
