Footwear
What are people saying about our footwear.
ETQ Footwear. Designed in Amsterdam. Crafted in Portugal. Engineered to outlast a trend.
ETQ Amsterdam has been building one shoe collection — patiently, iteration by iteration — since 2010. We don't follow drops or chase silhouettes. We refine ours. The result is a focused range of men's footwear in premium leathers and suedes: sneakers, loafers, boots, sandals, and slip-ons — all cut, lasted and stitched in family-owned ateliers in Portugal, each one chosen for the technique it has spent a generation mastering.
Over 200,000 customers have bought into the code. The average score across our independently verified reviews is 4.4 out of 5. The pattern in the long-form reviews is consistent: men come in for one pair, and come back for a second.
The ETQ shoe range, organized by how you'll actually wear them
Minimalist sneakers — the engine of the brand
Our sneaker collection is where most ETQ wardrobes start. Clean lines, premium leathers, no oversized branding. The flagship LT 03 and the slightly lower-profile LT 01 Court Lite together account for our most-recommended pairs. Both are available in white nappa — the easy daily driver — and in Mediterranean suede for a softer, more tactile feel.
For a more rugged silhouette with a thicker sole, the LT 02 Rugged and the platform variants of the LT 01 add quiet weight to a trouser. For a true performance-leaning silhouette, the RS lightweight runner brings a sport-inspired cut into our minimalist language.
Loafers and slip-ons — quiet luxury, ready out of the box
The LS 01 loafer remains one of ETQ's defining pieces. Soft Italian suede, a clean slip-on construction, a durable TPU outsole and a removable memory foam insole with moisture management. The lining is metal-free tanned leather. The whole shoe is built to be worn straight out of the box — no break-in, no blisters, no ceremony.
From the LS 01 base, the collection extends into the ML mule (an open-back loafer for warm weather), the MC bit-loafer (a refined dress option with a discreet metal trim), and the LS 03 higher-profile loafer for a more enclosed, autumnal silhouette. Together they cover the spectrum from poolside to boardroom.
Boots — refined chukka silhouettes for cooler seasons
Our chelsea boot collection centers on the CB 01 — a chukka-leaning silhouette in either full-grain leather or velvety suede, with the same considered last and clean upper as our sneakers. Built for transitional weather and the kind of trouser-and-boot pairing that dresses up a Tuesday.
Boat shoes, derbies and dad-shoe silhouettes
The DS and DB families bridge the gap between sneaker comfort and leather-shoe refinement. The DS 03 in full-grain leather has the clean silhouette of a deck shoe with the cushioning of our court sneakers — a piece that pairs as easily with linen as with chinos. The DB 01 in Italian suede sits even closer to a smart trainer, in tonal colorways from desert taupe to jet black.
Summer footwear — sandals, slides and espadrilles
For warmer months, the SL sandal and slide range uses the same premium suede and full-grain leathers as our shoes. The SL 01 is a clean single-strap slide; the SL 03 brings a cross-strap silhouette with the same molded comfort.
The materials, in plain language
What you're wearing when you wear ETQ:
- Premium Nappa leather: Soft, fine-grain, supple from day one. Used across the LT 01 and LT 03 court silhouettes. Buyers consistently describe it as "buttery" — the leather softens without slumping.
- Mediterranean Suede: Italian-sourced suede, sanded for a velvet hand, used across our loafers, slip-ons, slides and selected sneakers. The signature feel of the brand.
- Full Grain leather: The strongest, most durable layer of the hide. Used on our derbies, boots and select sandals. Develops patina rather than wear.
- Nubuck: Top-grain leather buffed to a fine nap. A more structured cousin of suede, used on selected sneaker silhouettes.
- Construction: Rubber outsoles for grip and durability, leather linings and removable memory-foam insoles with moisture management across the range. Boxed in recycled cardboard, printed with vegetable-based ink.
Designed in our Dutch studio. Cut, lasted, stitched and finished in Portuguese family-owned ateliers we've worked with for years.
What buyers actually say

"These shoes are perfect. Comfortable, clean, good material, minimalist. I buy them every time. They usually last a year of everyday heavy use — and I'm not careful with them." — Bram, Mijdrecht, on the LT 01 Essence
"These sneakers strike the perfect balance between minimalism and refinement. The design is clean, modern, and truly timeless — exactly what you want from a pair that fits seamlessly into any wardrobe." — Lars, Haarlem, on the LT 02 Rugged

How to choose your first pair
If you're new to ETQ, three honest pieces of advice:
- For a clean daily white sneaker that goes with a chino, a suit, or jeans — the LT 01 Court Lite or LT 03 in Premium Nappa White. These are the two single most-bought ETQ shoes, year after year.
- For warm-weather refinement — the LS 01 in Mediterranean suede, in sand or desert taupe. A loafer that works barefoot or with no-show socks, dressed up or down.
- For cooler months — the CB 01 boot in rugged suede, or the MC 01 bit-loafer for a more dressed silhouette.
If you're not sure between two sizes, our reviews are clear: loafers and slip-ons run slightly large — most customers size down half a size. Sneakers run true to size. Every product page carries a verified-buyer fit indicator and a measurement guide.
Frequently asked about ETQ footwear
Where are ETQ shoes made?
All ETQ footwear is designed in our Dutch studio and manufactured in family-owned ateliers in Portugal. Portuguese footwear craftsmanship — particularly in leather goods and sneaker construction — is among the most refined in Europe. We've worked with the same partners across multiple collections.
What kind of leather does ETQ use?
Our shoes are built primarily in premium nappa leather, Mediterranean (Italian) suede, full-grain leather, and nubuck.
How does ETQ sizing run?
For every model we will give an advice on the product page. Sometimes it is different with a silhouette. We also offer a fitquiz which is connected to our return informations system and actually updates its advice based on previous customers.
How do ETQ shoes compare to Common Projects, Santoni or other premium sneaker brands?
ETQ sits in a specific niche: premium materials and Portuguese craftsmanship at direct-to-consumer prices. Compared to mass-minimal sneaker brands, our leathers are heavier, our construction more considered, and our silhouettes more refined. Compared to legacy Italian leather houses, our prices are lower because we sell direct without retail margin in between. The result: shoes worn by men who would otherwise own one pair of Common Projects and one pair of dress shoes — and have replaced both with ETQ.
Are ETQ shoes comfortable straight out of the box?
Yes — and this is the single most-mentioned point in our reviews. Premium nappa and Italian suede uppers are soft from the first wear; our loafers and slip-ons use removable memory-foam insoles with moisture management; our sneakers have cushioned, padded constructions. There's no break-in period in the traditional leather-shoe sense.
How long do ETQ shoes last?
With normal everyday wear, our customers report multi-year wear from a single pair. With heavy daily wear (commuting, travel, all-weather use), expect around a year of intensive use before the upper begins to show its character — which on suede and full-grain leather, most buyers consider a feature, not a flaw.
Does ETQ ship internationally? What's the return policy?
Yes. We ship across Europe, the UK, the US and beyond. Free shipping on orders above €150. Returns and exchanges are handled through our self-service portal — a process customers consistently rate as fast and frictionless.
Are ETQ shoes sustainable?
We build slow. Small Portuguese ateliers, durable premium materials and recycled, vegetable-ink packaging. We add a silhouette to the range only when it earns its place. The most sustainable shoe is the one you keep wearing — so we engineer for that.

How to measure
Let’s find your perfect fit. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall and put your feet (with socks) on it, heels against the wall. Make sure you lean on your feet with full power when measuring. Now you simply draw a line at the end of the biggest foot. Measure the distance with a ruler and find the size that matches it: see size table. Are you in between sizes? In that case, we suggest taking the bigger size.

Full grain leather is naturally firmer and more durable as it is produced by retaining the top layer of the hide. Its appearance is natural, authentic, and robust. You are still able to see the grains. It looks just like the grains on your skin. We never sanded, buffed, or snuffed it, so this leather is super strong.

Piqué Knit
A true classic in fabric craftsmanship, piqué knit is renowned for its unique textured surface, characterized by a subtle waffle or honeycomb pattern. Originally developed for sportswear, piqué knit has evolved into a sophisticated fabric that balances structure with breathability. The weave creates tiny raised patterns, adding a tactile dimension while allowing air to flow easily, making it perfect for all-season wear.
Soft yet durable, piqué knit is frequently used in polo shirts and garments that require a balance between casual and formal. It drapes beautifully while maintaining a slight stretch, offering comfort without losing its shape. Known for its ability to hold its form and resist wrinkling, this fabric is an excellent choice for those who value a polished look with minimal maintenance.
Mercerized Cotton
Mercerized cotton is the epitome of luxury in cotton fabrics. Through a special finishing process, the cotton fibers are treated to enhance their natural properties, resulting in a fabric that is smoother, stronger, and more lustrous. The mercerization process not only strengthens the fibers but also gives the cotton a subtle sheen that adds an elevated, polished look to the material.
What sets mercerized cotton apart is its ability to hold dye exceptionally well, resulting in vibrant, rich colors that resist fading over time. It’s smoother to the touch than regular cotton, offering a silk-like feel without sacrificing breathability. This fabric is durable, resists shrinking, and maintains its shape, making it ideal for garments that combine sophistication with everyday wearability.
At ETQ, our mercerized cotton shirts offer a refined, elegant look with the comfort and practicality of cotton. It’s the perfect choice for those who appreciate understated luxury and long-lasting quality in their wardrobe essentials.

The diagonal weave provides natural wrinkle resistance, making it an excellent choice for both casual and formal attire.

This fabric is designed to stay sharp and maintain its form throughout the day, providing an effortlessly polished look with minimal effort. Its ability to resist creasing and maintain its structure makes it ideal for busy professionals or frequent travelers who need their clothing to perform as well as they do.
